Relining (also called CIPP, or cured-in-place pipe) threads a resin-soaked liner into the damaged pipe through an existing manhole or access point, then cures it hard. You end up with a new pipe inside the old one — and a drive, patio or lawn that was never touched.
Quotes on this job vary widely
A localised patch typically costs £300–£600; relining a full run £1,500–£4,000. Two specialists can price the same liner very differently, which is why it pays to compare rather than accept the first number.
Fully collapsed drain, or no usable access? That is excavation work — see drain repairs and excavation.

The decision that moves the price
Relining vs excavation
Both fix the drain. They differ enormously in cost, disruption and how long you lose your drive for.
| No-dig relining | Excavation & replace | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | £300–£600 patch · £1,500–£4,000 full run | From £1,000 per section |
| Digging | None — worked through an existing access point | Trench opened over the failed pipe |
| Time on site | Usually a single day | Several days, plus reinstatement |
| Reinstatement | Nothing to put back | Paving, tarmac or turf to relay — often a separate cost |
| Best for | Cracks, fractures, root ingress, displaced joints, leaking joints | Full collapse, severe deformation, no usable access |
Matched to a shortlist — not blasted to the market
We match you with up to 3 verified local specialists — never more — and send their quotes by email, so you compare a shortlist instead of fielding calls from a dozen firms.
What's involved
How a relining job runs
Relining is priced off a CCTV survey — the report shows what is wrong, where, and how much pipe needs lining. If you already have a report, send it and the quotes get sharper.
The pipe is jetted clean and any roots cut out, then the resin liner is drawn or inverted into position and inflated tight against the pipe wall.
The liner cures hard — ambient, hot water, steam or UV — and a final CCTV pass proves the repair. Ask for that closing footage: it is your evidence the job was done properly.
